Tampa Bay Bucs QB Jeff Garcia wants contract extension
Posted By D.A. Louis  May 15, 2008
Orlando Sentinel Reports:
Jeff Garcia knows what his addition meant to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season.

He's beginning to wonder whether the Bucs have forgotten.

"You want guys to go out and give everything they have and lay their bodies on the line,
lay their hearts on the line," the Pro Bowl quarterback said following Tuesday's organized
team activities workout. "Well, we want you to lay something on the line, too."

Garcia, 38, wants a contract extension to the two-year $15 million free-agent deal he
signed in March 2007. He believes his numbers (64 percent completions, 2,440 yards, 13
touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 94.6 rating) warrant one. He makes a convincing argument,
considering the Bucs were 4-12 in 2006 without him versus 9-7 and NFC South Division
champs with him in '07.
Michael Strahan has a plan about future but keeps it quiet
Posted by D.A. Louis May 15, 2008
New York Daily News Reports:
"I'll be honest with you, I pretty much know what I'm going to do right now," Strahan said
Wednesday night at Cipriani in Manhattan, where he was a presenter at the Dreams in the City
fundraiser for the Diabetes Research Institute. "But you know what the thing is? If I say it, I can't
change my mind. So I would rather wait until I know I'm 100% sure that when I say what I'm going
to do, I'm going to do it."
Chiefs will release safety Wesley soon
Posted by D.A. Louis May 14, 2008
Kansas City Star Reports:
Unhappy safety Greg Wesley will soon get from the Chiefs what he’s wanted for the last year and a half: his
departure.

The Chiefs have told Wesley they will release him as soon as they believe they have exhausted all trade
possibilities for him. That time could come as quickly as this week.

The Chiefs, who begin offseason practice on Monday, believe they are set at safety with starters Jarrad
Page and Bernard Pollard, veteran reserve Jon McGraw and third-round draft pick DaJuan Morgan.
Urlacher says he likely won't be at mandatory Bears mini-camp
Posted by D.A. Louis  May 14, 2008
Chicagosports.com Reports:
Brian Urlacher says he will not attend organized team activities starting Monday and is leaning toward
skipping the Bears' mandatory mini-camp May 30-June 1, but he insists talk of protesting his contract
situation through training camp is premature.

"Training camp is a long way away (July 23), and I expect there will be some dialogue between my agents
and the Bears before then," the linebacker told the Tribune via phone Tuesday from Arizona. "I would hope
it is resolved by then, but the [Bears] haven't responded in a couple of months."

Urlacher wants more than the one-year extension the Bears have offered through 2012, a deal that is
believed to include $5 million up front and up to $1 million added to his contract per year if he participates
in 85 percent of the team's defensive snaps. He has four years left on the nine-year, $57 million contract
he signed in 2003, which included $19 million in bonuses
Alexander awaiting word

Cincinnati.com Reports:
Running back Shaun Alexander has returned home to Seattle following two free-agent visits this week, first to
Cincinnati on Sunday and Monday and then to New Orleans on Wednesday.

Jim Steiner, Alexander's agent, said he expected to be in contact with the Bengals today.

Alexander, who grew up in Florence and was the league MVP in 2005, was released April 22 after eight
seasons with the Seahawks. The Bengals have a glut of running backs but are believed to be interested in
Alexander as a possible backup to starter Rudi Johnson. Coach Marvin Lewis said Chris Perry, a first-round
draft pick in 2004, is ready for on-field work beginning Tuesday. Perry spent last season on the physically
unable to perform list because of an ankle injury. Kenny Watson and DeDe Dorsey are other members of the
Bengals' backfield at tailback

Jets Rookie Is Undeterred by the Crowd at Tight End
Posted by D.A. Louis May 6, 2008
The New York Times Reports:
Unhappy with his contract, Baker requested a trade the week before the draft and was denied
by the Jets. The team also fueled his anger by signing tight end Bubba Franks as a free agent
to a deal that is set to pay him more than Baker, even though Franks would be his backup.
Baker has since threatened to boycott the team’s off-season training activities.
